2008 Collection
Anna Burnett ‘Aimer la vie’
Fashion to me is about exploring the inner you, it is a form of expression. My liver transplant in 1996 has influenced every part of my life, spending 16hours a day under blue phototherapy lights I loved to draw and sew. My recovery gave me a new lease of life and a new perception of the world. I love my life and the environment I live in.
I wanted my collection to show that fashion and the environment can go hand in hand. In using Ardalanish organic, fairtrade tweed, vintage trims and recycled textiles, I have been sympethic to the environment while producing a stylish, sophistocated colllection which demonstrates the possibilities of ‘eco couture’.
My tomboy traits influenced me to investegate menswear patterns and ‘transplant’ them around the body in an abstract way to create avant-garde shapes and silhouettes. This is in contrast with my feminine aesthetic which incourporates delicately pleated
dresses.
